Maybe the new profile name, waltscoins, is the persons twisted way of being funny. Meaning that s/he is now selling coins once owned by someone named Walt. With all the viruses on this website and now people running these scams, I think im done here. Face to face has always worked best for me and I think thats what Im going to get back to.

The question is, why wont PCGS do anything when stuff like this happens? It's happening on their site, they can check IP addys when a new user is signing up to cross ref. if the same IP is being used that was a proven scammer. Do they do this or do we assume they do this? Both ID's in question were new users with low posts. I realize we all have to start somewhere on a new site, but thats a red flag in and of itself right there. I know theres many other ways scammers can use the internet for less that appropriate purposes but why dont they (PCGS) at least start with this? Why dont they put out a warning that it is happening and post the ID to prevent it from spreading? Are they afraid of being sued? (no answer required, it's rhetorical). This is as bad as eBay not helping out scammed sellers. It's getting to the point where no where is safe to do business on the internet..why? Because the site owners dont do a damn thing about it even WHEN REPORTED.

Ive reported for about 2 months now how my pc has to fight off viruses every single time I am on this site and it does not happen on any other site I use on the whole f'n www. So why does it only happen here? Because this site isnt protected? It might as well be a porn site. You & your personal info. are taking your chances being on this site 1 second longer than you have to be. Which for me, is quickly becoming not 1 at all.

I agree. It seems like it is no longer safe to trade here or on eBay. This could mean a new golden age for B&M shops. SICKENING.

first of all I do not expect PCGS to protect me from myself, doing due dilegence is my responsibility, not checking references and just sending money is not to bright of a thing to do. I have alot of BST transactions and so far all went well. I do not just send my coins or money without knowing where there going. PCGS does not charge to use there site and there for I don't hold them responsible for my actions on there site. There are good and bad people all over the place, check out who your doing Buss with and at least cut down your odds of making a mistake.

Also I am on here several times a day for several years and never get any virus notices? just lucky I guess

There have been very few scams reported here, and forum members can protect themselves with a little bit of reasonable caution and common sense.

As I posted in another thread today: Anyone wishing to buy or sell on the BST forum should be willing and able to provide suitable references to the other party. If they cannot do so, but the other party can, the former should fulfill his end of the transaction first.

  • Why do people even try to sell 1 oz gold here. I can go to 1/2 a dozen shops and get a price that isn't worth the trouble to sell here.

Most shops will only pay a "bid" price that is roughly 2% to 5% less than an "ask" price. If a seller can get 2% to 5% over the bid price here, that could amount to approximately an extra $25 to $65.

How many go unreported because people are too embarassed to do so?

  • $25 to $65 can be lost in daily spot price. Not worth it to me.

That's a fair question, to which I don't have the answer.

Nor is it to me, but it might be to others.

It does seem that members will be on the ALERT significantly more on the BST forum.

Fortunately, rarely are these scammers all that bright, nor clever, that they can change their modus operandi without much notice.

As Mark and others have wisely noted, references, and some time/history on the forums, would seem to solve a great deal of this problem.

I would not do business with Waltscoins, Wilskyy, or DWCoins unless each and every one of them posted their profile with verifiable information here, and agreed to an escrow transaction in which these three sellers agreed to pay all escrow fees.

Sellers can always ship me the coins with an invoice. Walt could do that too. (I'm not making an offer on this coin however. But other forum members who are well reputed should not hesitate to suggest this with unknown sellers.). Not at all uncommon for new sellers or lesser known forum members to ship with invoice to dealers or well know forum members. Just got 4 buffaloes with invoice last week. --Jerry

I've been here over 3 years and have never had a virus alert. Comparing this site to a porn site is overdramatic silliness.
Positive BST transactions with: too many names to list! 36 at last count.

There is not a single time in the last 2 months that I have been on this site and at least 5 times while im on it, my pc has to fight off virus attacks. I'll keep saying it, it does NOT happen on any other site i'm on on the whole www, so why does it only happen here? I've asked 2 site admin.'s this and have gotten squat for an answer.

as far as getting a repsonse from the seller of this coin, i doubt you will at this point being that they've been outed across not only this but other mb's as well. I wonder if the admin.'s have done anything about it, apparently not being that the thread is still live. Imagine that...

I would suspect that you have something in your machine already, and its totally independant of this site. Pure coincidence. Spyware happens.
