1979 Sportscaster cards

I was yardsaling his weekend and found a stack of about 200 or so of the 1979 Sportscaster cards. They appear to be in nr-mint to mint condition, but I have no idea on finding the value and not all the cards I have are listed on ebay. I see soccer, football, tennis, golf and basketball plus a few oddball. Is there any of these worth anything. I only paid $5 for the stack so Im not out much if theyre not..Thanks

The Gretzky is a big ticket item. The rest are not worth too much, but at $5 I would say that is quite a find. I would say they range from a couple of dollars to about $50 depending on the player, excluding the Gretzky.

Bird and Magic are also key cards. Sounds like you have mostly commons or else you probably would have noted the stars.

I bought a lot of these once cheap as well. Check each player. I had some runner that sold for about 15-20 dollars.

I believe the "runner" is Steve Prefontaine. He is a popular one in the set as well.
Andre Dawson Super Collector, who also collects the following-
*Baseball* HOF autographs, Harold Baines, Pete Rose, Joe Morgan & Seattle Mariners
*Football* Seattle Seahawks, Kenny Easley, Steve Largent, Jon Kitna, & Brian Bosworth

That's the guy! I believe he has a couple of different cards. I sold stars individually and the rest in lots by sport. Nice find!

I might be interested if there are any golf ones. Not sure who is in the set. Could be fun to get signed. LMK

Look for any players who are on the PSA Set Registry. If they grade a 9 or 10 (or even 8 for any tough ones), there are plenty of collectors looking for them!

I brought them to work this morning and left them there and didnt bring them home, so I cant remember all the players, but I do remember a couple of Pele in the soccer, in football there was a Payton, Namath, staubach and stars of the day, golf had an Arnie, Flado, Ballesteros and several Nicklaus, basketball had a Jabbar and a Dr. J, but I cant remember if it had a Bird or Magic. The baseball had some of the vintage day players like Ruth and the like, but unfortunately they were the ones that werent in the best of shape. I cant remember if it had any wrestling in the group, but I do know it didnt have any hockey. The only ones in the stack had the top area in yellow/gold. I'll try and post a few scans when I get them back from work. Thanks for the responses so far

If you have any Jimmy Carter ones please send me a scan as I'll be seeing him on the 29th at a book signing, and am looking for a better card than what I currently have in order to try and get it signed.
    Thanks,
