You may have to get the mark first, because we'll probably have a one world purchasing system when that happens.

Somebody won't race tyo the bottom and can make huge money by
becoming the reserve currency. Failing this we'll just have to issue
new money if and when they all become worthless. At some point
people lose track of all the zeros on a note even before the printer
runs out of paper to put them on.

Inflation doesn't have to be all that severe but it will probably start
very rapidly, at a very high rate, and fairly soon.

the Dollar will never be "gone"... premature screeching about it's "demise" notwithstanding.

now, the value of the dollar in terms of other units of asset measure... that continues to change.

to answer your question.. we'll buy and sell our metals for.. wait for it...

I'd watch for China to take over reserve currency status.

It may be one of their long term goals anyway.

They're about to take a bath on silver probably so it will be interesting to see how this is handled
if they really want to have the reserve currency. There's been talk of an oil-based reserve currency
for years and this will probably resurface as well.

It's not impossible that one of the smaller economies like Canada could usurp this role. If not directly
then as a sort of defacto reserve.

Yes. The dollar should have years of life left in it.

It will become much less popular in a long list of countries though.

    Exactly!!

Just like the English Pound lost its World Currency status (or should I say World dominance) after WW1.

    It's still around.

Just another ho-hum currency, that's all.

We will be using the "New Dollar".

    1 New Dollar = 1,000,000,000 old Dollars

The good old American Dollar will be replaced by the
