Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

    yes
  • That's crazy. I think I would have been demanding my $200 million for the expressway back or something.

Just kidding, I lived in east Dallas, working at the airport for a few years and went to a few games while there.

Congrats to the Rangers, Nolan Ryan, and Rangers fans.

I'll be enjoying baseball at The Temple on Friday night as well.

Thanks to the new TV deal the Rangers signed, the negotiations with Cliff are going to go like this:

Nolan Ryan: "Cliff here's a check for the next 6 years. You fill in the amount."

Cliff: "Thanks Nolan." (Fills in the check and hands it back to Nolan).

If that is what keeps him away from the Yanks, I am all for it.

The Red sox should be good for a couple of Million to keep him from the Yankees. image

I don't think Lee goes to NYY. He seems to be too low key for that, and would fit good in Texas or Seattle....but Seattle has zero offense for him.
  • Glad to see the Rangers in the mix this year. Wish the Cardinals could afford Lee, but unfortunately between Holliday and Pujols contracts I suspect we will be filling our holes with players from the Senior Softball Beer League.

Congrats to the Rangers for their first playoff series victory!

Just remember, the 'Stros are still the only Texas team to reach the World Series.

Nah, we overpaid for Beckett and Lackey.

And Seattle also just traded him away... and is rebuilding next year.

He's definitely going to a big payroll team. I'm not sure Texas can afford it, simply because the new ownership group just shelled out so much to buy the team. That said, I don't think the Yankees are a lock. The Red Sox love to pay for pitching. They have to be in the mix. And the Mets, the Wilpons really want to do something to fix that team.

    Tough to say.

He might even find the Mets appealing because their ballpark doesn't give up a ton of big hits. The Red Sox don't exactly have a pitcher-friendly park. Or, he might not care, if he remains lights-out like he is right now.
Nolan Ryan & Edgar Martinez are my favorite players...

I miss Cliff Lee in Seattle, but we had no offense to support him and no chance at resigning him.

That guy is so MONEY. I loved watching game 5 in TB. Picked up right where he left off with the Phillies. He absolutely owned the Yankees last year. TX needs to move heaven and earth to re-sign him.

The new ownership group also just signed the Rangers into a 20 year $1.6 billion TV contract. Previous revenue from TV was only $20 million a year. New term doesn't go into effect for a couple of years, but Rangers are supposed to receive an advance of $80 million prior to the start of next season. They can afford Lee if they determine he's worth the price he'll command for the term he wants.

They traded him because the season ended in May, and Jack Z wound up turning 3 scrubs that got sent to Philly into a switch hitting MLB ready first baseman, and 3 other MLB caliber prospects from Texas. Because Seattle is rebuilding doesn't mean they wouldn't want to add that second solid rotation spot again.
