Do you think there is variation in grading depending on the service you request?

Maybe I am overthinking this, but I feel as though my submissions on my renewal to a PSA membership has yielded some nice results.

I currently have some nice 19th century tobacco cards (only two) that I would like to submit. I would probably find a few others to go with them. They are non-baseball and not too expensive, but I am unsure if subbing them on a current special would have as good of odds of getting nice grades.

Do you honestly think there is a difference on choosing a specific service? I know that some people feel that the big submitters get "breaks" on overall grades, how about one person and the service level that they choose?

The cards I am currently wanting to crackout is a GAI 7 from 1887 and a SGC 5 from 1887 (none in PSA pop reports better than a 3).

Suggestions?

I've only submitted 20 or 30 cards in my life, all under special rates of $5 or less, with no specified pop time.

Anyway, I've only had 1 card come in lower than I wanted, but it was a grade I fully expected. I've had many more come back higher than expected.

I am not a large submitter. maybe a few hundred cards over the years. I've had a few pleasant surprises and a few not so pleasant. I think they grade according to their standards and they do a pretty good job at it. I think some of the large submitters get good grades because they are good at what they do. They send in cards they know are top of the line. They know what won't grade well and don't waste their time or money sending them in.

    No.

IMO I'd crack the GAI and send the SGC for a crossover.

PSA will grade cards submitted at different service levels the same way. You however will have greater confidence in a card that you're willing to pay more money to grade. So opting not to submit them through the current special and submitting them at a higher service level will mean they're more worthy of receiving the higher grade you think they deserve. If you didn't have as much confidence in them you'd just send them in the special.
