Star Jordan Rookie-Real or Fake?

Hi there! It is nice to meet you all. I got this in a big lot of cards I bought off of this dude at an estate sale. He sold me all of the sealed team packs, all sealed except for this one. Im going to pick up the sealed packs in a week. but what do you guys think? Before I send it in to get graded I want to get some opinions on authenticity. Thanks a bunch.

The front colors look a little off and the image looks a bit fuzzy. But that could just be your scanner.

Look at the circle around the Bulls logo; does it appear to be a solid printed black line (authentic) or does it have breaks (counterfeit).
  • the first thing i noticed were the breaks in the Bulls logo but i thought that might be the scanner also.
  • It doesnt appear to have any breaks, but i cant really tell if it is a solid printed line or not. Do all the counterfeit ones have the circle made of dots?
  • It looks a lot less fuzzy on the actual card.

Pretty sure it's fake. Picture is too grainy, and the '85 doesn't look right. Print on the back isn't crisp, you should be able to see a clear 'R' in the circle under the NBA logo, and there isn't enough of a line in the basketball under the logo.

  • Hmm. Yeah, there is a definite difference between your card and my card, haha. Thanks a ton for the help.

Fake, the most evident telltale sign is the cropping on the one on the left. Check the fans around the border of the card, more of each can be seen on the right card. When the copy is made it is cropped a touch tighter to fill the space, hence the non-solid lines, and the slight difference in picture. Hard to tell with one copy, but next to an original it is relatively easy to see.

Best place to look is under the white guy's armpit on the left side. The original shows the fan's full face plus a little bit of space, the copy has his face cropped almost to his eye.

  • A couple notes: The color is a bit darker on the actual card than on the scan, and the scan does add some graniness to the picture. That being said I think the biggest difference can be seen on the back in the clarity of the text/logos.

The image on the front of your card is cropped ever-so-slightly tighter than the real deal as well. Notice the white trim on Dailey's shorts and some of the details on the backboard in the very top left corner.

Check out the amount of skin showing on the white player's left leg. Quite a bit more of it can be seen on the real card.

Is it me or does MJ look like he's balding in the right card?

    Fake.

Notice that there is no comma after "NBA PROPERTIES, INC." This is a new forgery that is going around. This is the easiest way to spot it right off even with a poor photo or scan.

    Back to the shadows.

You got it!! I have a card I bought off EBAY for $8 bucks and it has no coma. That must be the tell tale sign.
