Calling longtime SCD readers...Question..

There was a dealer/collector who ran ads about 2-3 times per year and all he sold, as best I can remember, were autographs of deceased players on baseball cards.

For example, I recall him touting a Walt Bond card that he described as rare because it was signed the year he passed away.

Was his first name Allen?

I believe I saw the ads in the late 1990's. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Robert

Does not have any autographed cards on the site.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

He may not have autographs on his site, but he is the person the OP is referring to.

If you click on the Bio part of his website, his SCD ads had those pictures with him with Jimi Hendrix, Roberto Clemente in the ads. He had a autographed 1967 Topps Walt Bond for alot of money ($10,000 I believe, but could be wrong on the dollar amount).

Bond died in September 1967 and a couple of months to have possibly signed the card. He advertised several tough signed cards in his ads.

Another website of his is http://www.fha21.com/index.php

I'll get in touch with Mike and perhaps he will answer you here or via PM.

    Good for you.
  • Thanks, Steve, but I believe that hdunk answered my question.

I just included Mike in the question because I know he is a longtime reader of SCD.image

I will check out his site, though. As always, this board is a great source of information.

    Thanks.
