is this even possible if the card's legit?

If it's a PSA card graded in the .5 era, the number is always going to be underneath the grade designation, right?

So what's the deal here? Seller certainly appears good........

IIRC when PSA was experimenting with the .5s they reached out to some collectors for sharp examples and that is how the first few .5s were added to the flips.

Looking at the # looks like this might have been a 1 card sub under that $50 level? 20 footballs behind and T206'S in front

If that's the case, that would certainly explain it. Everything else I could see about this auction looked perfectly fine, but I had never seen or heard of that before! Thanks.

Edited to add: Not that a card like this one is in my league anyway. image

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all "right-thinking" people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

This is known as “bad luck.”

Yeah for a brief time after the move to half grades PSA put it all on the same line, maybe only for a couple months
I think the rationale for the change to 2 lines was so buyers could tell which cards (old labels) are theoretically better candidates for bumps
