What type of book might help get a more keyed response.

In other news...killed the neighborhood snake tonight. Alright, it wasn't a snake...just a twig that had the hispanic family new to the neighborhood scared. But it is quite dead. Well, actually, I guess it is still alive....but it will dry out in the sun and be dead.

Why Thank you Nick........................Actually The Wife an I just finished our morning....Err, Comic Book, ya that's what it was!!!!

Actually I have dabbled in Antiquarian Books over the years. I'll post what I sent Benderbroeth if anybody is interested. I use the Dickens Books as an example because I was in Austrailia in 1995 and found a box of books at a little used Book Store in Woolingong. Inside were two beat up Copies of First edition Serials from Charles Dickens A Tale of Two Cities Hard Cover Serial, I think #4 and #7. This was before E-Bay and after much research I sold them to a Gentlemen in Vermont, A Professor at a University for $4K each. Since then I have sold him several items over the years, nothing near that $$$. As stated a NM copy today of what I found would be in the $100-500K range at a major auction House. This is of course the extreme and most Antquarian Books I have sold in the past 30 years are more likely in the $10-$30 range.

    Morning,
Can you scan it (Cover), and the Title page with the date? Or take digital picture? Condition is the upmost with most 19th century books, it sounds a little obscure, as they say in commons for cards, lesser titles from 1800-1900 in decent shape are usually in the $10-$30 dollar range. If it was a known Book or Known Author (Ie: 1859 copy of Charles Dickens Tale of Two Cities Vol #5 or #7, book was originally printed as a serial, Hardcopy in NM condition....Can you say Sotheby's and Three figures!).

So a lot of variables, Condition first, Who the Author is Second, What the Book is Third, and Forth, the most important, is it actively collected. There are far far far more Books available that there are Antiquarian collectors. Most books from at least about 1850 on have a very limited collectors base to in most cases 0 collectors. Whereas there may be thousands/ten's of thousands/even hundreds of thousands of collectors doing Cards. There are perhaps 400-500 serious Antiquarian Collectors in this country who are willing to pay more than $100 for a book.
