    I would imagine, it requires a college degree in Hand writing analysis.
    A hand writing analysis experts are used by quite a few government agencies.

    The correct terminology--at least in my part of the country, is "I'll take a SWAG at it"

    SWAG=Scientific Wild-Azzed Guess

    I think this should be standard, but I have a hard time believing some of the authenicators are actually educated as analysts. It seems like many of them are just long time hobbyists who have seen a lot of signatures.

    True handwriting analysis has a level of psychology involved in it. I think what both PSA and JSA do is compare exemplars.

  • There's no end to the level of expertise there. With photos they can tell if a print was made within 2 years of the shot being taken which means they also know the date the pictures were taken. I tell you it's absolute wizardry.

    On a more serious note, I am assuming with the autographs it does involve heany use of exemplars. Has anyone ever had an auto turned away bc there was no exemplar for comparison? If not that is one comprehensive library they have. In the end it is still just a non-guaranteed best-guess that you are buying.

    OK, I thought my Brian McNamara was funny, but I like this one the best so far.
