Who grades more generously on 1914 Cracker Jack?

PSA or SGC? I posted a message about a week ago about my 1914 Cracker Jack Roger Bresnahan with no number on the back, tried to sell it raw on eBay, but didn't have any luck at the price I wanted. I imagine it'll grade either a 3 or 4, but I'd like to get the highest grade I can get. Opinions?

It is a nice card. Regarding 1914 Cracker Jacks, I have found that PSA is more lenient with staining and SGC is more lenient with centering. Even though the top-bottom centering is off, since your card has staining issues, I would go with PSA.

Why did you have it priced so high? @ $899

Every other PSA 4 from that set sell's roughly for $250 - $400

    Just wondering,

I had it at that price because it's the version without the number on the back. I've read that it's rare (although not as rare as it used to be) and a PSA 4 sold for much more than that last year.

Bresnahan was the first catcher selected for the HOF. In addition, the no # version is more difficult then the # version. Although the cost has decreased on the no # version, there is still a premium.

I assume the comment on "every other PSA 4" refers to commons and not HOFs, high numbers or tough commons/stars. Most commons in the vg-ex range with good centering and eye appeal will be around $250 - 400. The tougher versions will be in the $300 - 500 range. The really tough ones (e.g. Pratt) can be more. Now with a HOF, the numbers go up. These cards are more than $400:

Cool one on Ebay right now.

On the card you're currently trying to sell, you took a gamble on a poorly designed listing here, and got a good deal on the card.

You then relisted it describing it properly with a nice picture.

Perhaps you listed it too quickly and the only audience was the other bidders from the previous auction. Get it graded with either company and you will make money reselling it. You might be happy it didn't sell for $899.

At the bottom on the back is that a problem with the "strike" on the original printing or is there very minor paper loss or scrap book residue in a few places?

I think it's a problem with the "strike." There doesn't appear to be any paper loss or scrapbook residue

In my experience PSA would be more forgiving of that than SGC.

Thanks...but in my opinion if you want to get top dollar for it get it graded.

P.S. " A PSA 4 sold for much more than that last year" You weren't selling a PSA 4.

By the way nice card hope you get more than 899 for it and hope it grades higher than a PSA 4. Looks better than some 5's I've seen.

    Edit: Nice cards Packman
