Questionable 1933 Goudey Ruth PSA 3

This one is really bad. Flip isn't even close.

1933 Goudey Ruth PSA 3

Edited to add: changed the title name. While I'm not 100% certain it's fake, I know I wouldn't buy it. Then again, I'm a little gun shy on these Goudeys after some bad experiences almost getting burned.

What is wrong with it? I must be missing something because it looks alright to me.

Same here...all the obvious things on the card, like the color, the bleeding thru on back...everything looks like it's a real card to me. The flip is kinda funny, with the placement of the grade & all but maybe it's an old flip?

I'm not an expert...maybe someone else can chime in?

two things that make it appear to be a Craigslist fake:

    1) no right justification on the VG 3 or the Cert #

    2) the font is slightly different, and the cert #'s are much closer together than a regular PSA flip.

I can see where one might think it's a fake, but I think it's just an old case/flip and is actually legit.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

I agree with the OP far as the alignment of the grade. Cert numbering looks ok to me though.

It could be a fake. Personally I think it is a flip that was in the middle of a PSA transition phase on flips.

Flips I believe started like this.

    Then went to this.

    Then went to this.

Then the .5 which is what we are getting back now...

The seller appears to be fine.

The flip is odd, but unless the seller got snaked
    the card is likely good.

He has sold a number of good cards with old flips.

The Craig'sList gang - Hernandez Gang - favors
this Ruth card, but I don't think this is one of theirs.

If I was going to buy it, I would want a fresh scan
that was not cropped so tight.

Unfortunately, as you know, many honest sellers are stuck with these Craigslist fakes. I don't know the origins of this card, but I've never seen a PSA flip with right alignment (or lack thereof) like this one. The font size and spacing is unfamiliar to me as well.

If he is one of the unlucky ones, the feedback likely wouldn't tell the story as this might be the only fake he has owned, and may not be aware it is a fake. Either way, I would pass on this card.

Looks good to me. I have owned several that the number grade doesn't go all the way to the right border.

I wonder if that Mantle and my NNOF were in the same collection at one time...I only say that because I've looked at some cert numbers that were relatively close to the Thomas in the past, and they were all rather highend cards.
