RIP George Blanda

Passed away at the age of 83.
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.

If I recall George Blanda not only played QB, he also played other positions, including place kicker.

In that role he played into his forties. For some reason I have this thought that he played into his early 50's [I may have him mistaken for the hockey player (Bobby Hull, Bobby Orr?) who played until he was 51], kicking field goals, a few of which no doubt beat my favorite team, the Broncos, during the 1960's and maybe into the early 1970's.

    RIP George.

Yep, he was the Oiler's starting QB and PK back in the day.

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

Did I read it correctly that he came back after being retired for 12 years?

No, he was retired for 2 years before he signed with the Houston Oilers of the old AFL.
