Saint-Gaudens Question

Hello, I'm primarly from the currency side, and have a question concerning a 1908 NM $20 Gold Saint-Gaudens coin.
I was trying to research the current value by searching auction sites. Many of the sites have the identical coin, graded MS62,
but all of them are in PCGS, and NGC holders. Mine is certified by ICG...will this be comparable to the other TPG's ?

If it's an ICG MS-62...I'd wager it's around $1,500 auction value right now. Give or take $50

I have several ICG graded gold coins that are properly graded; however, the marketplace considers ICG to be second tier so it may be difficult to get full MS62 money for your coin.

Unless that ICG coin walks and talks like an MS63, you will probably at best get MS61 money for it. Reminds me of an ANACS MS63 $20 Lib I had a few yrs ago. I bought it because it seemed cheap and had MS64 surfaces and luster but a small planchet flaw on Liberty's neck...seemed pq to me all day long. I paid MS63 money for it. In the end, I was lucky to get MS62 money for it, and that was after gold had advance several hundred dollars per ounce. As a rule ICG and ANACS are assumed to be at least one grade lower, and of course there are exceptions in both directions. The market treats these coins as basically raw as there is very little demand for these slabs. The very early ICG and ANACS slabs are probably a diff story considering those were graded when standards were tougher. I almost never see ANACS gold in the 1990 style gold foil holders.

Common date Saints go for about $1400 to $1500 raw, circulated, and a PCGS-certified MS63 can be had for about $1700 if you search hard (and move quickly, since gold is rising fast). So, there isn't really a lot of price variation between MS61, 62, and 63 from a relative standpoint. Still, some collectors are sticklers about only PCGS or NGC in the long run, so they'll add in their heads the cost of regrading and the risks of a downgrade or "genuine" / "details" grade. That said, it could be about $50 to $100 difference--probably closer to $50, since the spread is so narrow.
