NFL team issue photos

I have a new interest: NFL team issue photos. I've picked up a few sets so far, and I'm learning that there are a lot more out there. They are typically printed on thick paper--about the thickness of a catalog cover--but some are printed on cardboard. The ones I have so far are all black and white.

To me, the best thing about the sets is that they usually contain a few players who never appeared on cards. I also like the exaggerated action shots--you can tell that the players had fun with picture day.

I've added most of the photos I have so far to my football card gallery. When I add a set, I also write a short blog article about it. Here are some samples, with links to the blog articles:

Cool stuff Mike! There's lots of great action shots in the different years of team issues. There's also a few uncataloged ones floating around out there. It will be nice to have your site as a reference to which ones are which.

I added another set of team issue photos to my gallery yesterday, one of two sets of photos issued by the Browns in 1968. This set contains seven 7x8 photos, and the other contains twelve 8x10's.

Does anyone else collect these?

That's a great expression on Lamonica's face. It's also good to see Warren Wells is included. How can you resist opening it?

I don't collect them (yet), but they might be on my radar down the road.

That Tittle photo looks exactly like the shot that Bowman used
for his '54 card.

I've always wondered why Warren Wells of the Raiders never appeared on a regular card. He had a few terrific years with them.
He was voted AFL first team all-pro in 1970, yet he's on zero Topps cards.

Wells had legal problems; maybe Topps omitted him because of that. I did a Google search, but I didn't find a good article about what happened, just bits and pieces. I was a Raiders fan as a kid, and I remember being really disappointed when I heard he was gone from the team.

Well, I bought Ryan's 1969 Raiders and freed them from their packages. As I've been doing with the team issues, I added them to my gallery and wrote a little blog article about them. Here's the Warren Wells photo I wanted to see.
