Theoretical question on PSA 10 cards...

If a person cracked a PSA 10 and resubbed it, what percent do you think it would come back a 10 again (providing the card was not damaged during the crackout!)?

And yes, I know...no one is going to crack a PSA 10 to resub...thats why its called a theoretical question!

    depends on modern versus vintage.

    Modern -- 25-40%

    Vintage - 5%
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

Seems like PSA would do this as part of an in-house quality control system, but we'd never know it or not.

If it's a card I want to sell - never.

If it's a card I want to buy - everytime.

    Modern - 3 / 4

    Vintage - 1 / 2

After the card was graded a 10 it was handled again during encapsulation. After bouncing around for a while in the holder it gets cracked out, a sometimes risky process that has been known to make grown men cry. The plastic shrapnel get dusted off and the card is carefully slid into a nice new tight holder. Now it's sent off back to the grader as a test of the consistency of the grading process. But it isn't the exact same card that was graded before. Nobody intended to cause damage to the card. All it takes is the tiniest new rub, tic, dent, finger print, scratch, debris, or other sort of visible wear to keep the card from grading a 10 again. The test only proves that the submitter doesn't understand the grading process.
