Do the 2009 Uncirculated Coin Sets have any potential?

I was skulking around a few coin websites recently, and ran across a few brief stories about the 2009 Uncirc. sets implying these had some great potential for growing in value, primarily due to the difficulty in determining the actual copper content of the Lincoln cents once they're out of their protective packaging.

While everyone may not have a scale capable of such tiny measures, I wonder if anyone who collects such sets would attempt to sell them absent some sort of certification.

As a consequence, do you feel these sets command some sort of premium due to the "confirmed" copper content?

In 1982, I had occasion to separate out the zinc vs. copper cents in some rolls I got from my bank - and there is a distinct difference in the sound they make when you drop them onto a hard surface, carefully with cotton gloves of course.

I would say that there is a nominal premium for the copper varieties of the 2009 Lincolns, and that premium may grow.

There were also a couple of smooth edge Native American Dollars that were found in the 2009 Unc Sets, one of which is being offered on ebay for $3,950 with no takers, yet. You should check your sets.

The 2009 P/D copper mint set Lincolns have a lower mintage than the super low mintage and high priced 1931-S Lincoln cent.
So yes the 2009 mint set only cents have great future potenial.

I think if Dansco or any other maker of albums would include holes for both the copper and copper coated zinc cents then there would be good demand for these sets.

I believe these will sleep for awhile, maybe small gains, but one day in the not to distant future the demand will go viral and there will be a run on them. The whole "original copper composition" thing was pretty low key to most. Might not be worth a fortune but it should keep the price above the waterline. There are people that don't know there are 4 designs in 2009 or that the 2010 design has changed yet.

This is a true sleeper imho. As mentioned only these sets have the copper cents and the mintage is ridiculously low. Joe public will eventually wake up and realize this. When this happens......look out. To the moon Alice

This is my thinking (and fervent hope). I have a little over 500 sets now.

"Hoarders" Made me laugh there. I watched that show once and can't do it again. That is a bad condition to have. It was pure Hell to clean out my Dad's place last summer of 55 years accumulation of CRAP! And in my family it seems to be genetic. Thanks to my wife, I am no longer that way. If it doesn't get used for 6 months, it needs to go. (Except CHrismas decorations)

And all those sets are locked up somewhere far away. So the wife don't know about 'em.

Overdate

Since all the 2009-PD copper (bronze) cents are "Satin Finish", it shouldn't be that difficult to tell them apart from the circulation strikes.
