Bottomless...

pockets are required these days to even have a chance to work on the modern player collections. I have just about found the bottom of my pockets.image
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.

You could always just start a Griffey registry. It's small, and his refractors and subset cards are cheap

There's also the fact that if you collect somebody popular, there's often cutthroat competition. If you select someone less popular, there is usually a scarcity of graded cards available, so you have to start considering self submission. Hard to find a Goldilocks option.

Going raw will save you quite a bit of money.

I did it with my Will Clark collection and have never looked back.
