Screw eBay and Non-Paying Bidders

23 auctions ended on Thursday for me. 8 items not paid for yet, 4 of these 8 I have contacted the winning bidder and they have informed me that they can't afford the item now. These are cards $20ish in value.

What the hell is wrong with eBay these days and why in the hell can't I go back to leaving these turds negative feedback.

    It's a plague...and ebay couldn't give a chit.
  • Same to sellers who offer BIN, but magically no longer have the card after a big game.

I love that you can't leave negative feedback to warn future sellers.

See sig at bottom of post for best advice.

Also, be sure to ding them with a non-paying bidder. Time to cull the morons on ebay. I saw where instant payment is an option on all items now, including auctions. Does ebay pull the money out automatically in that case from the users paypal account? Seems to me that would be a way to stop non paying bidders is if somehow you could only bid on items that you had enough money in your paypal account or a backup funding source to cover the bid you placed

    Where did you see that?

You have always been able to use IPR, but ONLY if the
auction listing INCLUDES a BIN feature.

Since the BIN vanishes at some point during the bidding
process, so does the IPR requirement.

As far as I know, EBAY is still contemplating a full IPR scheme,
but has not implemented it yet.

It will require buyers to opt-in, which will have minimal impact
on NPBs. A mandatory scheme is the ONLY solution, but it
would hurt EBAY's numbers. MANY buyers could not bid under
such a scheme, because they are BROKE when they place their
    bids.

    Requiring immediate payment

    How immediate payment works

If you list your item with a fixed price, you can require a buyer who clicks the Buy It Now button to pay you immediately using PayPal. If you require immediate payment, the item remains available for purchase until a buyer has completed a PayPal payment, or until the listing expires. The first buyer who clicks Buy It Now and completes their PayPal payment officially wins your item. Once a buyer completes the payment, the listing ends and we let you know where you send the item.

Immediate payment is useful if you're selling a time-sensitive item (for example, concert tickets), and you want to make sure the listing remains available until the transaction is successfully completed. To require immediate payment, you must meet certain requirements and the listing must include any related costs, so your buyer knows exactly how much to pay.

Note: If you have an auction-style listing, both the Buy It Now button and the immediate payment requirement disappear once a bid is placed (or, if you list with a reserve price, once a bid meets your reserve price). In that case, the listing becomes a regular auction-style listing, with the item going to the highest bidder.

Here are some things to remember about requiring immediate payment:

You can use the immediate payment feature with fixed price or auction-style listings as long as you include a Buy It Now price.

Listings with the immediate payment feature must offer PayPal as the only payment method. This includes auction-style listings that end with a high bidder.

If the listing reaches its ending time before any buyer has completed payment, then no one wins the item and you can relist it.

How to require immediate payment in your listing

To add an immediate payment requirement to your listing:

List your item with a Buy It Now option.

In the Decide how you'd like to be paid section of the listing form, select the option to Require immediate payment when buyer uses Buy It Now.

    Complete your listing.

Requirements to list with immediate payment

To require immediate payment for your item, you need to meet the following requirements:

Have a PayPal Premier or PayPal Business account when you list your item. Find out more about upgrading your PayPal account.

Have an eBay seller account in good standing.

Specify a Buy It Now price of no more than $10,000.

Specify shipping costs or offer free shipping when you list your item.

Include all other related costs, such as taxes, so your buyer knows exactly how much to pay.

I was looking at an auction last night and in the listing it said immediate payment required upon auction end. He didnt have a BIN on it, but its been a while since I was on ebay, maybe he had one at the beginning of an auction or maybe he was just hoping that a buyer would pay at the end of auction. I actually did not read an ebay terms of service clause that said there was immediate payment on auctions, just from the listing.

    Leave a positive and say:

Great ebayer! Except for paying for it.
