D304 Rube Marquard..advice please?

Tried to sell this D304 Marquard.
While I guess I'm not terribly surprised it didn't sell, I was surprised it only got 12 hits.

It's a very rare card, can anyone see anything (besides paying for exposure) where I could have got more action?

This set is one of the top 5 pre-war sets in my opinion. Cards rarely are for sale. Couldn't believe that after 5 days it only had about 4 hits.

~thanks

Might help. Unsure on anything beyond that.

    I would just relist it.

Try filling out the Item Specifics as completely as possible.

Make sure the card is in the most narrow/appropriate
    category available on the SYIF.

Like others said you should put D304 Weber in the title, thats the key, its a much scarcer back compared to the normal General Bakery back.

Then start it at $9.99 and let it ride image It will sell for what its worth (now).

Just looked at the values the SCD has on these, way way too high IMO... $4500 in EX for a normal HOFer. I knew D304's have jumped in last 5-6 years, but that value is crazy.

Last D304 I bought was an Johnny Evers GB back (VG) about 6-7 years ago for $75 raw on eBay, so I wouldnt say I am an expert. But at that time that was a deal and the cards were selling for 3-4X that (I resold it for about $250)

A couple years ago I saw quite a few D304's sell for crazy $$ as a couple stupid $$ registry collectors were fighting for the cards they need in this small 25 player set and jacked the prices realized and thus the book value way up.

    Now...
The "so called" book value went up over 37X in 6 years

The 2009 SCD has the Marquard for $11,250 NRMT, $4,500 EX, $2,250 VG
The 2003 SCD has the Marquard for $300 NRMT, $150 EX, $90 VG

Now in late 2010, Id value the D304 cards somewhere between the 2003 and 2009 values in the SCD.

Go over to Net 54 and try using their BST. Your price isn't bad for the card (I don't see any 5's sold before, and a SGC 60 sold for $2400 in '07), so it wasn't that it was an overpriced eBay listing necessarily.

I guarantee you'd at least have 12 views in the first hour on Net 54, esp. if you pass along the savings of what you would've paid in eBay fees.
  • I agree Net54 BST is the place for this card. You will get a lot of views there. IMO the card is priced fairly.

For god sakes DO NOT sell your card at auction on Ebay! You will not get close to full value in this market. Just wait for the right buyer and keep getting the word out that the card is for sale.

Check the set registry participants for that set and email each of them, letting them know the card is for sale. Even if they don't want/need it, they might know someone who does.

Scottie- another vote for the BST on Net 54. Even if it isn't on America's Toughest Want List you'll be able to see it with no fees.
Is this to fund the furniture book?

The D304 Marquard is at $5,250 in NM in the 2011 Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards; EX is $2,625, VG at $1,575.

Lots of vintage prices have been adjusted downward in the 2011 book; lots more to come in 2012.

Nice Anthony - you sure none of the Bruces can use this one??
  • Thanks for all the input. I actually want to get $2400 to break even.

and yes Anthony, it's to fund the book! (kidding)

I googled network 54 and got all kinds of mixed results. Anyone wanna provide the clueless one with a link?
