I want to shave it off and burn a "ONE CENT" hole through it with acid.

No. But I've often fantasized about how an ANA grading guide 75 years from now will advise us to use the raised ONE CENT in determining lower grades of this coin.

They will corrode before they get a chance to wear down.

Actually, for them to wear down, people will actually have to use them!

I have grown to like the desigtn. The return to the exact 1909 portrait was a HUGE improvement on the coin. Zinc is a soft metal and the striking pressure had to be reduced from the period of copper issue. Even with the raised lettering, I dont think wear or metal flow will prove to be an issue, though I think die cracks will appear from time to time.
