What Would Be The Downside (IF ANY) To PCGS Slabbing ALL CONECA Varieties?

Like ANACS & others do now? image

From a registry perspective?

From a sharholder perspective?

From a collecting perspective?

From a turn-around time/service/grading capacity perspective?

From a PR perspective?

Name your poison.

We had this "fight" (i.e. seemed like they finally relented - kicking & screaming, although I'm sure they're ECSTATIC now - a few years ago getting them to include all the CPG varieties. Is it now time for the CONECA "fight"? image

I would LOVE it. I have been trying to them to do all the varieties NOT just CPG!!!!!!!!
  • accuracy and time for authentification
  • It would be great if PCGS would attribute by CONECA numbers!

PCGS could always become a member of CONECA and then let CONECA do the attributing for $4 per coin. The coins would be more accurately attrubuted and PCGS would still pocket $20 per coin profit image

The collectors would be happy, no more "Minor Variety" labels.

Some of the coins listed in the Cherrypickers' Guide are so minor that they are almost un-collectable while some strong varieties are not listed in the book. Makes you wonder what the authors were thinking about. image

  • if CONECA did the authenticating, how many months would be the turn around?

When I send a box of slabs to Dr. Wiles (twenty coins) Registered Mail, it is about five weeks before they come back, some have been quicker. But it nice to have some one confirm what they really are not just having "Minor Variety" written on the labels plus the fee is only $80 for all twenty coins and Dr. Wiles only charges the actual return postage and there is no $8 application feeimage

Try no to forget the question of Shipping and Packaging costs for shipping to CONECA as well as the increased "Wait Time" once the CONECA Attributors get overloaded with submissions.

I expect that the "Variety Attribution" price would increase by $10 to $15 for CONECA attributions in addition to another 10 days on the grading side.

However, why involve PCGS at all until the variety is positively identified? Sure, it would be nice but I think it would also really overload the system.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!

I would guess closer to 3 months

Over 100 rpm's for the 1960 Lincoln alone. Only a few of those examples worth more than a few dollars. Who's going to slab a 1960 rpm that's only worth 5 dollars out of the holder? Let's stick to the C/P varieties. PCGS has created the demand for those by including them in
the registry sets. Throw in another 2 or 3 thousand Coneca Lincoln varieties, you will lose the interest of a lot of people. JMHO Shag
