Todays Garage Sale Find; Opinions Appreciated....

Hello all,
Came across a good garage sale find today for dirt cheap. 401 1971 Topps in pretty great shape.
Have never had any of this series to send out for grading and hear PSA grades these pretty tough.
Attached a few scans of probably the best centered of the bunch. If anyone who knows this series has a minute to chime in if they think any have a chance at an 8 or above I as always, appreciate the feedback. (Backs are crisp, clean, unmarked & well within centering specs for an 8).
Thanks for reading,
BEJ....

Looks like a very nice lot. They strike me as generally nicely centered and look sharp from the scan. The Aaron looks like an 8 to me.

  • Thanks to all for the compliments on the find as well as opinions on the grades that might be given.
Since more than one has PM'ed me on what the price was here it goes.

    The 71 Topps, 1 - 36 count wax pk. box of 1990 Score NHL hockey premier edition & 15 1974 - 75 Marvel comics ( assorted super heros ) for $35.

Kinda makes up for all the Sat's I drag myself out of bed early hitting all garage sales that advertise cards & find the typical crap.

I will probably take a few days to go over what I got 2 or 3 times to pick some to send out to get graded but after that I will just offer the remaining raws for sale. I am working on too many other vintage sets to start another.
Any member in need of anything specific from this set PM me & I will send you scans if I have them.
Just give me a few days to look them over again as I need to watch the Steelers & spend some time with wife & kids.....

    Best wishes,
    BEJ....

    Nice!
$35 is what people want to sell 80--90's crap for on Craigslist.

Very nice Aaron. I would think even in a 7 with that centering you'd do very well. Most 8's I've seen and one I sold aren't centered that well. You did very well! Congrats.
  • Nice find. image Aaron looks like an 8 to me.

Nice score. I think Hank has a good shot at an 8.

    that Weaver is sweet!

As an aside, I love the stadium backgrounds in those cards! Weaver's picture was obviously taken in Florida during ST, but the Aaron, Maxvill & Gibby were taken @ Shea Stadium and the Twins player @ Yankee Stadium!

I wonder if the Gibson & Maxvill shots were taken the same day?

No, for baseball it was 1969 to 1970, for football it was 1968 to 1969. John

Edit, Nice looking cards!! Look like 8's to me.

Current obsession, all things Topps 1969 - 1972

Thanks John, I guess the lady at Woolworths still thought packs were a nickel when I bought them in 1970.
