<< <i>AFA is the top dog of toy grading,PSA equivalent. They grade fairly and seem to be consistent in their grading. I'd pay to grade key action figures and toys in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, I opened all of mine back in the eighties. I recall almost spending my allowance on a case of G.I. Joes at Payless. The case had about 4 B.A.T.S and a couple Snake Eyes and Storm Shadows. I also remember getting a stupid green bike instead of the Aircraft Carrier. Anyway, back to AFA, they will grade opened figures too. I'd leave grading modern stuff alone unless it's a limited figure. >>
I found the Aircraft carrier and the Terrordrome both nearly complete at a yard sale a few years back. Paid 100.00 for all of it the guy had sold the Terrordrome for 375 and the carrier for 200(mainly cause it is just too big.)
I did have a couple of figures graded by AFA, I have a couple of of old SW figs that I may submit to their untouched service as the packages are heavily damaged but the figure is still sealed.
Do they have stronger tamper-evident qualities than PSA holders? (I would certainly hope so).
At times over the past few years, I've considered buying some vintage carded Star Wars figures that are AFA graded. I probably won't though.
Finally, can anyone add a scan of an AFA-graded Star Wars action figure with remarks about the holder? The Non-Sports Forum may be the appropriate place for this.
