Why are 1988 Leaf cards not included in the Rookie Registry sets?

For example, Mark Grace or Roberto Alomar?
I am buying and trading for RC's of Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Bob Cousy!

If Beckett says it's a rookie card, then that's the only support the Registry folks will accept.

<< <i>The Lords of the Registry decided that it would be best to ignore the collectors and go with a 3rd party to decide what a rookie card was, and they chose Beckett's Ultimate Rookie Card Encyclopedia.

I believe they are designated RCs in Beckett.
Becket designated Mark Grace RCs (Leaf)
Beckett designated Tony Gwynn RCs (O-Pee-Chee)

Then you should email the registry folks and get them added. Perhaps it was an oversight?

The OP should definitely do that. There is nothing about Leaf/O-Pee-Chee that DOESN'T make them true rookie cards. They are rookie cards in hockey, so why not baseball. Wasn't there a Expos player with a 1989 OPC rookie card? That would make all his 1990 RCs invalid.
<< <i>Wasn't there a Delino DeShields 1989 OPC rookie card? That would make all his 1990 RCs invalid. >>
1988 OPC actually, but Beckett calls it an XRC for some reason.

Man, if he would have ever panned-out into a HOFer, that card would have been a monster.

One thing they say for modern cards is that if the set contains NO players who were in the majors at the time of the set's release, then all the "first time in a major league set" players' cards will get the XRC designation.
All the cards in the 2001 Upper Deck Prospect Premiers set (which features the first Ryan Howard and David Wright cards) are called XRCs.
