Have you ever seen a $150 Bill?

here's one.....actually, it was the whole 1974 Topps Basketball set, but this was the feature item, and probably the nicest card in the set......i did not come close to my recent success with a '72 set.....some of the other keys were PSA 8 quality - i'm hoping to do better with this one, however, a couple minor issues might hold it back.....nonetheless, i'm very pleased and i really like the card, and i don't think i've ever had one this nice as far as centering, corner sharpness, color and clarity go, so i wanted to share.....enjoy. image

Nice Center. I'm sure Bill saw some sharp colors, but his clarity couldn't have been too good at the time...

if anything, the lower right corner might hold it back. Still a great looking card.

So leading the 77 Blazers to w World title and then being 50-12 before getting injured makes him a dolt? The guy was clearly poised to be a top 20 player of all time before injury. Yeah, he was wacky with the music hair and SoCal attitude but he was one of the hardest workers in the NBA and every teammate he ever had loved him. Dude was a Hall of Famer despite playing over 70 games in a season ONCE in his career - as a reserve with the 86 Celtics. He actually only played ver 60 games THREE times and was a first ballot Hall of Famer. What exactly was your problem with him?

Other than that it's a nice card overall. Nice score!

    First of all, nice card.

Second, I am a big UCLA fan and my parents spoke of "Bill" and "Lew" as if they were family. He was a well liked player. He was hard working. However, I believe he is in the hall of fame for his college career as he is one of, if not THE, best college players of all time. I really don't think his NBA career would warrant first ballot hof consideration but I could be wrong. In terms of why some people don't like him I don't know.

after further examination of the card and comparison to others, i have determined that this one is a lock for an 8, strong possibility for 8.5, itsy-bitsy could-be-maybe for a 9, due to the slightly faded color, the slightly out-of-focus "BLAZERS" and that obstruction in the letter "B", but overall it'll be one of those cards that will look real nice in a holder, regardless of the grade.....overall, the set did not yield any other potential gems, but it did allow me to mix and match the best of what i received and what i had, and now my 1974 raw set looks a heckuva lot better.

thanks for the comments y'all. image

I agree with you and he's also one of the greatest players to ever play in the NCAA. I guess jealous haters must have made the dolt statement. According to my dictionary, a "Dolt" is a stupid person, a dull person, or a blockhead. How does Walton qualify as a dolt?

His liberal political views alienated some observers. Most likely, that is the reason for the comment.

An All Time Great, who would have been one of the very best players of all time, barring injuries.

PS There will likely never again be a statistical game like his 21-22 FG, 44 point NCAA Championship clinching masterpiece.
