Post your Odd Ball Collectibles

We all have some odd ball stuff, thought a thread showcasing it might be both neat and useful. If you aren't sure what an item you have is maybe somebody here can help. Here is my first odd ball item that I stumble across today, forgot I even had it. It's a Nabisco Cal Ripken Jr., 1998 all star game contest display...it's big standing nearly 6' tall.

  • Some calendars I've shared here before would seem to qualify!

I've got quite a few advertisements with athletes in them also. Here's a classic from the late '60s/early '70s (?):

  • This is one of the pieces I got when I was collecting Nolan Ryan. I believe it was a contest for the 1998 All Star Game at Coors Field but I'm too lazy to go downstairs and check out the details. It stands about 5.5 feet tall.

This is right up my alley since - as a few know - I'm in the process of redoing my room and expanding to another room which will have a built-in bookshelf 9'x15' made in the other room.

I'm more of an odd-ball collector than cards - tho I really like cards and have quite a few - it's the items I can hold in my hand that I enjoy.

I picked this one up in 1994 at the Ft Hamilton Px - when I saw it, I ran to the manager and asked her if I could have it after the display time was over - she said sure.

As ya can see - it's pretty large - over 6 ft.!

I've got stuff stacked on top of stuff - I've got most of the collection in boxes - I'm bringing it all out - and then deciding what's gonna be displayed - what's going into a file and then what's left - perhaps to sell or give away.

  • All right! It's great to see your collection displayed altogether instead of piece-by-piece as you acquire them, Mike!

Can't wait to see your remodel and the results!

    Thanx Mike

The walkin closet is destroyed - I would take a pic but I'd be embarrassed - will when it looks a bit neater.

BTW - Mike - did you get my PM?

  • This is about the only odd ball thing I have. I got this through the mail back in 1985 or 1986? I haven't opened it. It has been tucked away for all these years...
