    Love it.

  • RB, I agree with Oaksey. That should be in a 9 holder. I would keep reviewing it until it ends up where it belongs. Nice card.
  • You could cut yourself with those corners. Blazing '63!

    That is an absolute beauty!!!

I don't however, think it could get a 9 on resubmission. There looks to be a slight tilt on the top edge. It also looks like there's a very slight ding about 1/4"-1/2" from the left on the top edge, and then unless it's actually on the slab, there's the surface issue to the left of Mickey's face. Additionally, there's the black dot in the left border, across from the Yankee hat logo, and there's a hint of white in the blue at the bottom-right.

All that said, this card is the perfect 8-8.5!!! The bottom corners are 9-10ish, with any issues lying elsewhere on the card image

How the heck is that not a 9?!

Are the corners softer than they appear in the pic?

Even with that tilt and snow to the left of his nose IMO that card is a 9.

Heck we have seen 10's not as nice as this example.

(I have no idea what the back looks like)

Nice card Ron, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comments so far. It's one of the nicest cards in my collection, certainly fits in well with my general collecting strategy of buying graded stars while keeping most everything else raw. Really fits in well with the 63's I have.

As for the card, I think it certainly has a reasonable shot of bumping. I'll get it reviewed at some point, I agree with those who think it is 9 worthy. It is an awesome piece of cardboard.

    Ron,
That is a stunner and presents as mint. That's maybe the nicest 63 Mantle I've seen. I however would just send it to Mickey71 and sell it for PSA 6 price.image

The coveted green area basically presents as a 10. Ron, did I tell you I like this card? "WOW" I have a nice 8; but you now have made it to where I can never show it on the boards. Your card is awesome and I am very picky on Mantles.

  • I'm not much of a slabbed collector of old cards like this, but it always amazed me when I see a card that's so sharp that it looks like you just went to Target or a card shop and pulled it out of a brand new pack. That Mantle is amazing. I love that design too. I think Upper Deck Vintage used that design earlier in the decade, but I can't wait for the Topps Heritage run (2012?).

    Nice card!
