Unique But Semi-Worthless Collections

Howdy collectors, long time reader, first time poster.

Just wanted to introduce myself and ask people what their unique but semi-worthless collections are.

Me, I collect rookie cards of my alma mater (the University of Illinois). So PSA 9s and 10s of a Kurt Kittner rookie may not be "worth" that much, but i dig em nevertheless. That said, a 33 Sport Kings Red Grange is goint to set you back a penny.

On the side i also buy 1973 Topps, 1952 Topps, and signed 1948 Bowman baseball.

Cheers!

I have a small collection of University of Wisconsin autographs. I prefer them to be in their college uniform, but that's not always possible. I also collect the Topps All-Star inserts. I always loved 'em as a kid...
  • Cards with players with zippers down, cuss words visable, basically not kid friendly cards.

Very cool!! I put together the Illinois Football Rookies registry. Here's a link to what I've got in photobucket: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v441/berzerk411/PSA - Illinois Rookies/

Let's put it this way...I'm the guy who submitted the requests for player sets for Chris Chambliss, Gary Matthews, Felipe Alou and Rico Carty.

Like the fellas said, collect what you like and this will always be fun for you.

I collect providence college basketball autos. preferably in their college uni and auto insert from the manufacturer. Still looking for a mary conlon and marques bragg Front Row auto. I paid 20 bucks for a raw 1991 courtside eric murdock auto insert. thats pretty much a worthless card to the rest of the world.
Scans of most of my Misc rookies can be found <a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://forums.collectors.com/m...y&keyword1=Non%20major">here

On top of my regular collections, I also collect cards of my Alma Mater, as well as the players from my home-town college since I was a fan of them while growing up. Unfortunatley for my bank account, it has produced quite a few player collections. (see my sig line).

edited to add--around half of my baseball player collections are for players that only played in the minor leagues--making the quest even harder--looking for singles from minor league team sets can be frustrating--have had to buy more than one team set just for one obscure card.
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.

7.5? Does PSA grade outboard motors now?
  • Welcome !

I collect soccer and hockey - specifically pre-war issues.

I do not refer to the PSA registry because they are in the dark ages - the PSA Master list of Pele cards runs about 30 to 35 cards: mine has over 300.

    Enjoy your collecting !
