Are the 1995 Donruss A.L. and N.L. All Stars that rare?

Are the 1995 Donruss A.L. and N.L. All Stars that rare? I have been looking for months for a 1995 Donruss N.L. All Stars Gregg Jefferies and I can't find it anywhere. I found the Ozzie Smith relatively easy, but this Jefferies card is becoming a pain in the rumpus.

Anybody know where I can get one?

  • While I wouldn't go so far as to say rare, they were only inserted in retail jumbo packs think at one or two per box. You're problem with the Jefferies or any other common is that most sellers probably don't think that there is a market for something like that card and they don't list it. With eBay and Paypal current fee structures you really have to question your sanity about listing cheap dollar cards like these.

I agree 100%. That is the problem I have run into being a Cardinals team set collector.

Wait a second - Jefferies ain't no common! His rookie card used to be worth $15. Surely, it has went up some since then! image

I remember playing Tony LaRussa baseball on my Sega Genesis in 1993, and Greg Jefferies was the best hitter on that terrible hitting Royals team from 1992.

I see that he was 6th in ROY voting in 1988, and 3rd in ROY voting in 1989. That is a pretty hard thing to do.
Yeah, I uploaded that KC icon in 2001

Might not be around or has a new user name as he had issues of over grading on trades on SCF and a trade issue that had him banned from The Bench back in 2003.

I checked sportlots and only saw 5 total cards from the set and no Jeffries. Must be pretty tough

I believe he's the only guy to ever be top 10 twice. It's incredibly hard given the limitations on consideration for ROTY - 130 ABs for players, 50 IP for pitchers, or less than 45 days on an MLB roster. You gotta make a pretty big splash in such a short time frame to get votes and still be a "rookie".

Jefferies became an excellent hitter - his two years in St Louis were great - but just not quite the superstar he was expected to be.

Good news for me! A member here PM'd me and said that he had one I could have for a few bucks (mainly shipping and a "digging out of the closet" fee. Yee ha!

Found it. Was in the first player box (lucky me) so the closet did not have to be completely unpacked. Interstingly at some point in time I separated Jefferies into a card cubes and top loaders - those were the days!
