Another E-Bay Rant Nickle & Dime me to Death !!!

Morning,
Since E-Bay did their most recent sweeping changes (Months ago/Last year?) I recently have fallen victim to their latest scam. When the old Store rates were in affect the had three kinds of listings and when you listed a Store listing for .03 cents you had two duration periods 30 days or Good til canceled.
Now when I list an item as Fixed Price (Store Listing) and I sit and do 20-30 listings for my Store if I fail to remember or set the Duration thing on the first listing their default is 7 days and all the listings default to that. And there is an option for 3, 5, 7, 10, 30 days, or Good Till canceled. Who in the Frcik wants to list Store items at anything other than Good Till Cancelled? And even when I catch this after I've listed the item, E-Bay won't let me Revise the duration even though on the front end the duration cost is the same no matter the length.
So for the last couple of months all of a sudden 20-30 items end per week end and I have to Re-List them, change the duration to Good Till Cancelled and pay another. .05 cents each. It isn't much money but it is frustrating and just another way they are Nickle and Diming me to Death!!!!!

Oh and just for clarification purposes, although this is partially my fault, it is also purposefull and programmed by E-Bay this way. When I go to list an item, I grab one of my Store listings and hit Sell Similar, when the first page of Create Your Listings comes up, E-bays computer changes the duration to their own default of 7 days from my Listing of Good Till Cancelled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just my morning Rant........................And before Bill says it............................Yes I am a Grumpy Old Fart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a problem with a different default that ebay added. I did not realize the default until after I posted several items and I could not change it. I called ebay. They had me cancel the auctions while I was on the phone with them and they refunded my fees. I was then able to relist the items. It was more work then it was worth but I did not want to give ebay any more money.

image. You are correct there are many things programed that way. I had recently a listing that ended 7 days when I wanted it to go till canceled this was with turbo lister. Turbo Lister is the same way.

The default on things has to be something so if it's not what you want then change it. It would be like forgetting to change the BIN price from one listing to the next and then blaming everyone except yourself for the mistake. If the default on new listings was GTC then there would be a lot of complaints from sellers who didn't know, intend, or realize they authorized Ebay to keep relisting and charging them for all eternity.

Along those lines, is there a way to stop ebay from filling in a BIN when you send FP items to auction?

That's what I thought, but today put it to the test, It happened exactly as I have stated above. I didn't forget anything, when I used the Sell Similar function, it changed the Duration of its own volition...Period!!!. And to add a another fluke to the mix, this has been happening for about the same period of time, when I use a Similar listing to say list 10 cards in 10 different listings from the same set, just different numbers, and each time I use Sell Similar at the end of each listing. Now when I type in the description box the new Card number and some different details then go and list, on every third listing it deletes my changes in the description and reverts back to the previous listing language. And the pattern is absolutely every third listing!!! So if I don't Preview every third listing (Or lose count and check every one), it will update the Title, Cost, ect. but change the description back to the previous wording. I have never seen anything like it in my 20 years of using computers!!!!!!!!!!!! So I have a new step where I have to copy the language in the decsription box before going to the next page, then after Previewing, Edit the listing and replace the description with what I origionally typed in every third time.

And let me assure you, screaming and jumping up and down and cussing has no affect!!!!! I speak from experience!!!

  • I have been having that same problem Neil with the desription reverting back to the prior listing even after having changed it, usually 2 or 3 times for every 10 that I am listing. You are not the only one having that pain.
