St Louis Sport Collectors Show

Hi - I'm going to be in St Louis this Sunday and noticed on the web that the St Louis Sports Collectors show is this Sunday. Looks like they do several autograph session on a regular basis and have 90 or so tables. Seems to be a nice setup and promotion. My question...is this a worthwhile show to go to? How many baseball card tables could I expect? Thanks for any insight.

I have not been in almost 2 years but went several times a year for a couple years before that. It is a fairly small show but not bad. There seemed to be a good mix of raw and graded - some high end stuff as well. At least a handful of those dealers are regulars on the Chicago show circuit. If you're into new/unopened I know there is usually a dealer there that has most current sets/boxes, etc. - I believe from TN area. They usually pull in some pretty good autograph guests as well - I've gotten Ripken, Musial and others there. It's actually a nice change of pace from the larger shows.
  • If you are already in town it is definitely worth your time. There is a pretty good amount of raw vintage there if you don't mind cherry picking.
    Have fun!
  • Back in the day when the show was held at the Holiday Inn on Lindbergh it ranked right up there with the very best organized shows in the hobby. As the hobby has changed so has the show….not much interest for me these days.

Great show in the old days when it was at the Holiday Inn on Lindberg. I remember shoulder to shoulder crowds on every aisle. But, that was pre-internet. I've only been to this show once or twice, and that was five years ago or so. I'm sure it's okay, but nothing like the old days.

Always looking for Mantle cards such as Stahl Meyer, 1954 Dan Dee, 1959 Bazooka, 1960 Post, 1952 Star Cal Decal, 1952 Tip Top Bread Labels, 1953-54 Briggs Meat, and other Topps, Bowman, and oddball Mantles.

  • Thanks guys. I just got in town today and am planning to go. Looking forward to it.
