Proper way to return ebay item?

So I bought a card that I wasn't happy with the condition of. Seller has a one week return policy listed in the auction, which is done tomorrow. What is the proper way to return an item where there is no issue per se? $300 card so perhaps Sig Confirmation, but should I log anything with ebay? Is it possible to do that without filing some sort of claim? There was no true issue with the listing...any help appreciated...as an FYI I am waiting to hear back from the seller - just emailed him last night.

  • Anything over $250 you must get signature confirmation to comply with eBay/PayPal rules as I understand it. If the seller has a 7day return policy I would notify them immediately that you intend to return the card, then send them the mailing confirmation info. This way you should be covered. As long as his policy is items accepted within 7 days for return, you shouldn't need a reason, although it wouldn't hurt to provide one. Good Luck

Send it back with Signature Confirmation.

If the refund is not made quickly, file a dispute/claim
with PayPal and provide your return-shipping info.

    ............

Note To Sellers: During the next few weeks, the new
scheme to penalize sellers when a dispute/claim is
filed will be in full swing.

The mere filing of a dispute/claim can result in a suspension
    for low-feedback - below 400 in 12-months - sellers. Such
filings will also affect your FVF discounts.

Now, when a buyer - crooked or honest - wants to return
an item, you might as well just bend over and grab your
    ankles.

Ha - that would be a good way to recoup my losses from that experience. Still can't believe that.

Via ebay message I got the seller to confirm he will take the return and the address to send it to. Looks like I will insure and do sig con for CYA purposes. Thanks for the input!
