Is AMPEX trying to pull a fast one or is it a type 0?

MS 65 or MS 66? I was looking at buying this coin but after reading the discription I dont know what to think. It looks like a MS 66 in the photo but read the discription on the bottom! it says MS65. Could it just be a type O?

You better call them on the phone on that coin.

They have 3 available. The exact coin in the photograph is not the coin you'll get if you buy this.

Their price is consistent for what a MS66 1923-d would bring in the retail market. Nearly $3000 for a MS65? Now that would be a huge markup (40-50% over market).

  • I agree with roadrunner. The price is correct for a generic 66.

Give them a call to be sure, but Heritage has sold a couple '23-D 66s for under $3K this summer.
  • They also mention the coin could be certified or raw. I wouldn't buy this coin raw for that price.

Agree. This must be some kind of I.Q. test.image

This does not imply raw at all. You get a PCGS certified MS66.

So, if you order a raw coin, they promise that they won't send you a PCGS slabbed coin.image
