Any idea what this status is on USPS tracking? It is a package I sent in state, found it rather weird.

Maybe someone hit the wrong button
said it's in state. Perhaps S. Cal and N. Cal have split the sheets?

<< <i>30 % Duty Due... Kidding. Sounds like a goof. >>
Hope it is a goof and not duty due!!! CA does need money though...
<< <i>package inspection is not what I want on coin shipments. >>
I recently received several high value coin shipments from overseas. The first batch came in untouched. The second batch they opened one of 3 Fedex boxes, they then opened one of 4 envelopes. They taped everything back with their green "opened for inspection" tape and sent it right along. The third batch of boxes came through untouched. My guess is they are looking mostly for drugs. My other guess is they are pretty careful about theft in the opening room.

Yea, I'd say someone hit the wrong button but my post was meant to reassure you even if it did inadvertently go through customs. --Jerry

Sometimes..............stuff is just so dumb that you just gotta laugh!
For example, what if siome inspector notices this on the tracking information and starts asking the same questions? What then? "Hmmmmm, passed customs inspection but its being shipped from a California address to a California Address??? I'd better check this one out further."
The name is LEE!
These things happen when traveling as well. A few years ago when my late night domestic flight arrived in Atlanta from Washington DC we were directed through passport control. The CBP officers doing pre-primary thought it was strange that nobody seemed to be carrying valid passports with them.
