I only watched the first few minutes of that 2 hour video....phew. They're assuming that govt's won't cheat on a paper money system that is tied to population growth. Not likely to happen. And they don't understand that it wasn't gold's fault that it failed the Romans, it was that the Roman's started debasing and filing down their gold coins. It simply comes down to that you cannot trust the govt not to cheat on any monetary system. Gold didn't fail the Romans or the USA, they failed gold. Maybe govts should just be left out of this entirely?

The only secret is finding officials and bankers who won't cheat and debase the monetary system in place. Once you have that, most anything would work. But it's NEVER yet happened in world history to any industrialized nation. The urge to cheat is too great. Therefore to protect the people, gold and silver US coins were instituted in the 18th century.

I'm not advocating a return to a strict gold standard but merely stating the fault doesn't lie with gold, but with human nature.

I saw a description in a Goldberg Coin Auctions catalogue ( lot 3005 ). I never knew that about the Wizard of Oz. Interesting.

    Maybe a video thread?

In my old NJ lingo, "howz about diz wun"? ( I know I know, they are totally irrelevant to America image )

    Some predictions and more

If you look under Bix Weir and his Road to Roota series, he has detailed analysis of all the allegories in the Wizard of OZ. Even more interesting is a booklet the FED put out that has even more subtle links to gold vs. fiat. The FED originially issued that booklet in 1981 while the gold commission was meeting and have since come out with an updated reprint in the past 3 yrs. It strongly hints at supporting a gold standard and waiting to return to it someday....quite stunning coming from the FED. Wier thinks the FED secretly wants to come back to a gold standard and they are the "good" guys.....not sure I agree on both counts. Wishes and Rainbows.

Take a trip to "Colorland" if you dare.....or stay in Pebbleton with everyone else.
