I had the same feeling as Bill a couple years ago on here. Listed a coin for sale on the BST forum for around $550. Got several offers of less than $500 in the week or so it was posted. Finally moved it to ebay where it hammered at $780+. Its a good feeling Bill, isnt it?

A rule proposal, and then a question.

First, I would like to make a motion that anytime you want to post a picture of your car, you must be in the car with the window down for the profile shot of the driver's side.

That neighborhood does not even look close to being a Chicago neighborhood. My understanding is that you must actually live in the city to be a firefighter or you cant have the job. So whats the deal here....either that isnt your car, you are not a Chicago fireman (hydrant jockey to be exact) or your superiors would want to know your real address!!

Maybe that picture was taken at my friend's house in Dyer, Indiana. But dont worry Andy, I wouldnt have expected you to be smart enough to realize that a car with 4 wheels has the capability of driving to other locations than my own home.....which is IN the city of Chicago by the way.

P.S.- Take a look at the garage photos again Andy boy. Anyone with an IQ above 100 can clearly see that the garage does not match what would be expected to be seen in a relatively new subdivision. The garage pictures are at my home....the driveway photo is not.

I earn a living as a firefighter also, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I could'nt afford a car like that. Especially if I had a mortgage that resembles those homes in the picture.

mccardguy, Depending on how the Chicago F.D. contract is written, he may be able to live so many miles from the city he works for. For example, while I live and work in the same community, I am allowed to move within 10 miles of the city line.

Andy was right about at least 1 thing. To work for Chicago, you must reside within city limits. There are few "big city" fire departments remaining that still use those requirements. NYC and LA have both dropped residency in the past 10 or so years....Daley wont give it up here.

On a side note.....regarding the "affordability" of this car....I have a wife who earns about exactly what I do. Without that 2nd income, this toy would have been well beyond our reach as well. The homes pictured are in Dyer, Indiana and start at around $175,000.....so they are not as expensive as you may have thought.

Just curious, does your friend own the entire building and rent out the other half of the double? That's a good way to cover your expense. That is a nice neighborhood but I am surprised they have blacktop aprons and allow a pick-up truck to be parked outside. My neighborhood is not nearly as nice (upper ghetto) but trucks must be in the garage. BTW the garage appears to me to match the double, not that it matters.

They own just their unit. And the garage DOES appear to match that of the houses? Notice all the cracks in the slab of my garage? You dont find those in attached, heated garages that are under 6 years old....unless they were poured by "Ted's Discount Slabs". Also you will notice that my garage is "unfinished". Most new construction of attached garages are dry walled from my personal experience. VERY rare to have exposed studs in newer construction.....but I suppose it does occur.

Actually it is common to see exposed studs on exterior walls of garages. Any wall of living areas will be insulated and drywalled. Also most garages of new construction are not heated. Not that these units can't have been insulated, drywalled, and heated but seeing the blacktop aprons indicares they were trying to build economically. (Not that there is anything wrong with that.) In fact in many areas codes require aprons must be concrete.
