Bidders to block, unless you enjoy high maintenance bidders

I had a bidder called flight2sfo win an auction of mine a couple weeks ago. Immediately at the end of the auction, I got an automated email from them that read:

<< <i>Hello, we just won a bid for the item and we have a favor to ask you. Can you please make sure the shipping package has the eBay item numbers on it?

For those of you who are going to separate an item into more than one box, it would be much appreciated if you numbered the packages. (e.g 1/2 2/2) Also, if we need to specify the size, color or any information for the item to be shipped out, please remind us to inform you.

Last but not least, please include all correct items that are shown in the picture and/or your description.

Thank you.

Needless to say, I was prepared for a fun sale. I sent an invoice and they paid a few days later. I shipped out the item per their instructions and within 24 hours of receiving payment.

A couple days later I got another email asking for additional shipping information and that I enter it onto their separate website. I entered the tracking info and other info they required on their website. The package was delivered that same day.

I got another email after that saying that the item was not the same one they purchased. I emailed them a link to the item to show that it was exactly the same item. They confirmed that the message was sent in error.

2 days ago, I received another email saying the item has not been received. I referred them back to their prior messages. That email was also sent in error.

Sorry, but for a $25 sale, it's not worth dealing with these folks. When I went to add them to my blocked bidder list, I noticed I had already blocked flight2hnd. I thought back and remembered dealing with this company once before...same garbage. The company's name is Shop Airlines, Ltd. and they claim to be an "Allied partner of eBay.com for Japan"

If you don't like dealing with BS after a sale, feel free to block the following buyers as I have: flight2nrt, flight2sfo, flight2lax, flight2hnd, flight2ord, flight2nyc, flight2cts, flight2kix, flight2bos, flight2f u k (minus the spaces thanks to CU's archaic bad word censors).

These guys represent the current - somewhat legit - version
    of the "Green Tea Scam."

They are aggregators and rip EBAY listings onto their own sites
in Asia. When an item sells, they buy it from the EBAY seller.

Sellers that use DC/SC are generally "safe" in dealing with the
new guy in Japan. The previous incarnations of the scheme were
TOTAL crooks. They made HUGE money on bogus INR claims.

The subject practice is VERY widespread and when executed
properly no one is harmed by it. Many small sellers actually
benefit from the practice; they make sales they would not
    otherwise make.

There are a number of large listing-aggregators that provide
a useful service. They grab listings, post them on their own
sites, mark them up, and buy them from the original lister when/if
    a buyer bites.

Some infamous listing aggregators have been noted here numerous
times. The South Korean and Japanese outfits have operated
HUNDREDS of off-EBAY sites, using NOTHING but other folks' EBAY
    listings.

When the foreign-listed items are purchased, the operators simply
buy the item from the EBAY seller.

This system first came into negative light when the outfits - using
commercial mail-receiving firms in Houston and Los Angeles - began
filing bogus PayPal INR-claims against THOUSANDS of EBAY sellers.

HUGE money was ripped from EBAY sellers. The foreign aggregators
were refunded their PayPal payments, and then delivered the "stolen"
merch to their own paying buyers in Asia.

The SCAMS were grouped under the labels: GreenTea SCAM, and DELTA SCAM.

None of the gangsters were properly prosecuted and dozens of
"cleaned up" versions of the scheme are in full operation today.

Blocked them all. Thanks for the heads up...
  • I've had them order from me about 5 or 6 times. I actually just sent the item without going through all the additional stuff they ask for and never had a problem with them.

I recently had a buyer ask if the card I was selling had any wrinkes, scratches, creases, marke, paper loss/tear, corner wear, specks...etc........on the front or back.

The card was graded PSA 4.

  • Thanks for the heads up on all the user names. I had a problem with ShopAirlines a couple of months ago. Two weeks after receiving the item and leaving positive feedback they claimed the item was broke. They said the reason it took so long to make a claim was that it was in their warehouse for 2 weeks. I made them send it back and they gave me a hard time about return postage. They are just not worth the drama.

  • I guess I am getting overly sensitive -- I have recently blocked bidders who..
    1) requested feedback multiple times within 1-2 hours of paying for the card
    2) Buyers who send me detailed instructions on how to ship their cards - along with a history of leaving neutrals and negs
    3) Buyers who make 50.00 offers on things like Goudey Babe Ruth cards and send letters that tell me they are doing me a favor

I now also automatically block any buyer who leaves me a 1/2 rating on shipping and handling. This just kills me -- my shipping is clearly stated -- if it is too high - don't bid. But don't buy and then ding me - ESPECIALLY when the person is a seller as well and charges 2.50 plus 50 cent per card.

How can you tell how many stars they left you?
  • Rich,

These buyers ares still around. I found your old post about them because I am having trouble with them on a recent ebay sale. I wanted to see how your sale ended up. Did they end up paying for return shipping? Was the item actually broken when you got it back?

AMEN BROTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought I was the only one who had that problem! It kills me to see a seller win an item from me for cheap, see it in their store for a lot more money, they ding my stars for shipping costs, while they themselves charge the same OR MORE shipping than me!!!!!!!!!!! bbcardstor immediately comes to mind as having done that to me!! They made my blocked bidder list as well!

I have sold several items to them in the past without any issue. I did get the automated email about numbering packages, etc.
  • We have sold to these guys (and/or their subsidiaries) well over 100 times with zero issues, and never once jumped through the hoops as outlined. Just make sure to include a receipt with the package you are sending them - which you probably do anyway. Jeff @ CavalierCards
