    Rare?
None unless you get into certain varities.
I am sure some folks will tell you that "this one" or "that one" is truly rare, but it is just a variety thing. If that's your thing, go for it image

Else, you will likely want a 73-S if you want silver. That's my guess. Or, I just take any old Ike when I want a big coin in my pocket to flip in front of folks later

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    Anything in the circulation strikes 1971-1978 P and D mint MS66 and above especially 71-P 71-D 72-P 72-D
also the 1972-P Type 2 reverse. The U.S. Mint used Proof reverse dies on circulation strike coins.
Here is how to tell the difference between three different reverses for the 1972-P Eisenhower Dollar
Do not even need a Loupe to tell the difference. All can be easily be identified with the naked eye.

    1972-P Types 1,2, and 3

I think what you are looking for is the 1972 Copper-Nickel Type 2 Reverse. A circulated example could be worth between $40 and $50 dollars. I'd pay more for an XF45 or lower. image
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Most likely the 72-P Type 2 Ike in High grade.

there are many varieties that are worth a ton (off-metals, errors etc) but most of those are one off coins.

Use the PCGS Price guide and you'll get a good feel.

As just a base coin, the 72-P Type 2 has the highest value....worth $25-35 even as a low grade coin.

There are some very expensive errors, but of the common varieties, the 72 type 2 is the king, IMO.

If you forget about:Varieties, condition rarities and errors and look strickly at the greysheet. It would be the 1973-S silver proof or brown Ike.
