1971-D Kennedy Halves DDO FS 101 and 102 worth submitting?

I have about 10 of each of these(FS 101 and 102), BU, but low grades, quite typical for mint set coins from MS61-63. Modern grading plus the variety grading fees put the cost, just for grading at $37 per coin plus shipping. I don't see these around much so I am not sure if they are worth sending in. I am going to send 3 of the nicer FS102's (64/65/66) in but the others?

Good Luck. There are quite a few "different" DDO's for 1971. Some of my obvious FS-101's turned out to be DDO-007 which is very close to DDO-004 (FS-101).
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Interesting, I have a graded example of FS-101 which I compared against for those but I don't have a 102. The FS 102 I guess is the one I am not so sure about, the way I am telling them apart is that the 102- has a split serif on the bottom tail of the "S" in "TRUST", and the upper right serif of the "I" in "IN" has a nice split. I have another roll of DDO's that are a third variety but more minor.

Just confirmed with the CONECA listing, all FS 101's and 102's I also have a roll of the third variety as well, DDO-007. I found these, knew they were a DD so I set them aside. Worth sending in?

Send them in at the least expensive tier.

    Clackamas,

The 1971-D DDO-004 (FS-101) is also the DDR-002 and is worth about $25 in MS64 (not really worth both the grading and attribution fee at PCGS in my opinion). The DDO-006 (FS-102) is worth about $60 in MS64 (your judgement call if it is worth grading and attributing).

What I would recommend is if you think it is a nice looking coin, get it graded at the Modern level ($14) and when you get the coins back, you can send them to James Wiles for attribution at only $5 per coin / $4 per coin for members of CONECA and he will tell you exactly which variety it is. PCGS will only say if the coin is DDO-004 / DDR-002 (FS-101) or DDO-006 (FS-102). All other 1971-D DDO’s, PCGS will only label as “Minor Variety”.

If you happen to have a 1971-D DDO-001, DDO-002, DDO-003, DDO-005, DDO-006, DDO-009, DDO-010, DDO-011 or DDO-012 in MS60 or higher grade, I would be interested if you wanted to sell them. Just PM me.
