I'm thinking about giving away cards to a deserving kid.

I seem to have acquired a lot of oddball cards that do not fit into my collection or any future collecting I might do. These cards kinda run the gamut, but mostly Red Sox I suppose, I haven't inventoried them all. I do know that one bunch is an almost complete, I'd say pretty NM-MT+ 1992 Topps boxed set.
What I would like to do, once I get my act together is to literally give them away (I pay postage, the whole deal) to a kid who for whatever reason may not be able to afford to have cards. I want nothing in return, just knowing I may have put a smile on some kid's face is more than enough for me. So, my dilema... if I ask the board for help to identify the recipient, how do I ensure these cards would really go to a deserving kid? I really don't want to enhance some colletor's stuff...if you know what I mean. I'd also like to stay within the US.
Suggetions welcome.
Thanks,
Al
