Recently my family and I visited Etal castle. I thought I might share some pictures.
Its not far from Flodden field where Scotland lost a disastrous defeat to England at the battle of Flodden in 1513.
Etal castle was built by Robert Manners as a defence against Scots raiders in the mid 14th century, it fell to James IV's invading Scots army in 1513, immediately before their catastrophic defeat at nearby Flodden.
The tour started in the museum.
Then we headed outside into the courtyard.
One of the two main buildings the gatehouse.
The Tower House
Inside the Tower House
and that concludes the tour.
To keep it coin related does anyone have a coin they could share from this time-line, Henry VIII or James IV?

This may be a stupid question, but I'll ask anyway. Do they have yearly shows at a few of the castles, like rennaisance fairs? I know, it sounds tacky, but I wouldn't mind seeing something like that. Fun stuff!
<< <i>" ...for, as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom – for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself." >>
We had a great time I love visiting castles. I want to go around Bamburgh castle which is nearby too some day.
To keep it coin related heres a Henry VIII Groat a used to own.
Me and Charlie Garrett (my Garrett GTI-2500 detector, that is) would sure like to dig up that pretty green lawn and find out what's lying beneath!
Sure there is. You may want to check before travel to find out whats on at what castle before hand. They don't all do it but some do have medieval tournaments.

Also you get people that like to do renactments of medieval or Viking times/ battles.
