Post an 1803, small 8 half dime in a PCGS holder

    1803 "Small 8" half dime is also known as the LM-1 or V-3. It's an R-6 die marriage. I've seen a few in PCGS holders. I recall seeing one two years ago in a PCGS OGH graded VG-8. I swear the thing looked boinked with (heated, maybe...the 3 was funky). I recall later seeing the same coin in a newer PCGS holder, graded VG-10, IIRC. I don't own one. I stick to the "middle date" half dimes image

    This is a great post because I almost bought a raw one today. Unfortunately, I couldn't pull the trigger. It was, I think, a wholly original vf. And pricey. In the end, rather than buy it raw, I suggested that my friend send it in for certification. So I would love to see a few more to see if I graded it properly. If I can get the dealer to send me a photo, I'll try to post it.
