Modern cuts on vintage hand-cuts...

What's the general oppinion on this?

If an 80 year old card was cut (badly) from a strip of cards 80 years ago by someone, would it be an acceptable hobby practice to get that 80 year old card and trim the edges to even them out?

if the card is not in great condition anyway, and there are ample borders, I personally do not have a problem with this.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
