Managed 1 World Series winner, 1990 Reds
His 2001 Seattle Mariners went 116-46, a major league record. This was after superstars A-Rod, Griffey, and Randy Johnson had departed. This to me was his best accomplishment. Unfortunately for him his 2001 Mariners lost to the Yankees in the ALCS.

"The answer was in the Patriots eyes. Gone were the swagger and c0ck sure smirks, replaced by downcast eyes and heads in hands. For his poise and leadership Eli Manning was named the game's MVP. The 2007 Giants were never perfect nor meant to be. They were fighters, scrappers....now they could be called something else, World Champions."

Danny Murtaugh....Yes

Put him in the Hall, good hard nosed manager, that was very entertaining.
Not many represent the game the way Sweet Lou did.
Too bad he was not managing the Cubs during the Bartman year. He would not have sat on his ass and watch things fall apart like Dusty Baker did.

<< <i>Factoid-Sweet Lou once ran for the cycle. He was thrown out at every base during a game. As for not winning the WS in Seattle, that team did not have the dominant front line pitching that can be crucial in a short series. They had pitching depth, but 4th and 5th starters are seldom factors in the post-season. For a reference, check out the Dbacks WS team. >>
Problem wasn't the pitching, problem was the hitting. The bats went to sleep against the Yankees - 2, 2, 14, 1, 3. That's their run totals for the ALCS. That won't get it done. They gave up 4, 3, 3, 3, 12. Not great but not terrible either.
Also a factor is that the rotation didn't setup well for the ALCS. Aaron Sele pitched twice while Seattle's studs - Jamie Moyer and Felix Hernandez (both of whom were great in 2001) - each pitched only once.
