Displaying WAMs

I was thinking about buying a dansco blank Cents book for my WAMs . a page per year and expand out that way. I was wondering it this would look better especially for displaying over 2x2. Which do you think would be better. at the rate im going ill have a couple of rows of them in 2x2 so debating if books would look better. Just an idea im throwing around I think a Dansco book is about 21.00 and could hold 324 coins.

2x2s for 324 coins would be about 15.00 So the price difference is about 6.00

  • Putting them in an album would be a neat way to display them if you wanted
them to be available for display.

It is a PITA to insert one in the middle of a series unless you leave some holes
in the middle. If you have a complete set, or if you can identify what a complete
set looks like, then you can leave holes for the missing ones to fill in later.
(I don't know what a WAM set consists of or looks like, so forgive my ignorance.)

One thing about Dansco albums is that I'm not aware of a way to label the
holes nicely. You can use DYMO tape or print years on an Avery label that you
can then cut to size. But this is messy and does not look great.

The Whitman (blue) albums have available a kit where you can letter the holes
yourself. They are gold press-on letters. A little unwieldy but the end result
looks nice. There may be similar product for Dansco albums but I've never been
    able to find one.

My personal opinion is that copper coins look nicer displayed in a Dansco album
(brown/gold) and silver coins look nicer in the Whitman (blue) albums.

Sounds like a fun project! Good luck.

WAM = Wide AM cents usually 96, 96D, 98 ,99 00 years are known. with CAMs Close AM cents are 92 and 92D so in that respect it would be a 7 coins set.

I figure 1 page would be 98 cents another a 99 cents and as one page gets full i can put a page between the 2 pages and so on.

  • In that case, labels probably would not be necessary unless there are
    varieties of the variety. image

Which hopefully doesn't make all of my previous comments unnecessary. image

  • Not possible in my experience; they all claim that but they are all "soft" plastic.

  • I wasn't aware of a '96-D WAM. When was this discovered?
