How much should I offer?

I have an opportunity to purchase a $50 mint sealed bag of 1969-S Lincoln Cents...what do you think I should offer? The person who owned them is now dead and their family is selling his collection. He purchased it directly from the mint.

If the price is in reason go for it. You will find time to go through then, look for what ever your interest is Over Mint marks, choice high grade coins, Mechanical doubling. Oh bye the way, I wish you to find the Big one or two. Good hunting.

$150-200. At least that's what I'd do anyway.

what condition is the outside of the bag in? (as in... no mold or mildew on it, is there?)

For 69-S Lincolns? You're kidding right?

That price is way off of reality since bank wrapped rolls typically bid out anywhere from $15 to $50 a roll depending upon authenticity. A mint sealed bag should carry a very hefty premium.

I'm thinking upwards of $3,000 a bag if not more!

Lets review. This MS63 sold for $86,250.

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

The real question is are you looking to make a fair offer or a lowball offer?

Depends on wether or not you plan on disclosing the potential. Disclosing the potential should afford you a huge share of credibility and an opportunity to share the value of that credibility with some financial reward to the heirs if that potential should bear itself out. It's not all about the money, despite what you may have been taught, and you'll be a winner either way.
