When you buy a coin just because you didn't win what you wanted

With all the hoop-la going around the ANA and the Ha auctions I ended up with a coin that doesn't do anything for my collection because it was cheep-ish and kind of cool for a type piece but lost out on all of the coins I really wanted....Nuts I can't be the only person who buys something just because they were in the add frame of mind.
Main set add on that I was the under bidder and failed to win-Thought the bidding was on a different day
This was my main target over the weekend and lost it by two bids because it crossed the block too late at night-
My secret set loss
My glorious win for a set I don't have and know little about, more money than sense - at least it looks solid

The 1823/2 dime with Small E's is a difficult coin to find, despite its modest R-3 rarity rating. I just don't see many of them out there. Plus it is a Redbook variety. It is a nice looking coin. And in my professional opinion as a dealer in Bust and Seated silver coins, the price you paid was quite reasonable. To me it looks like a winner all around. Congratulations!

I will take that as a strong endorsement coming form you, thanks. I know it's a decent coin and properly graded and that with a pop of less than 100 it doesn't come up every day. I just wish that I would stick to my guns and not buy coins that I haven't fully studied first even if I know enough that I would rather have the large E's. I often hold on to them and end up using them as trade bait when a core coin comes along as trade dollars don't come cheap. By the way I like your web site and always have.
