Turned down $305 to list at 99 cents auction, Kareem Abdul Jabbar signed rookie PSA/DNA 10, did I m
In a world of high priced BIN's with Best Offers, I decided to give a .99 cent no reserve auction a try. Hopefully it won't be too big of a mistake. I tried the high priced BIN with best offer option and got a best offer of $305.05 which I turned down. I might be bummed next Sunday night after the auction, but we'll see.
My Kareem Abdul Jabbar PSA/DNA 10 signed rookie card
What's your opinion? Would you have taken the $305.05 or did I make the right choice?? I know this is an opinionated bunch
so how do you think this will do at auction?

<< <i>What was it at before when they offered the $305? >>
I think I had the BIN at $595 originally with best offer option.

<< <i>That's a nice looking card/auto Mike, I'm sure you will do just fine. Did you sell the Jordan cut you had? >>
Doran, I didn't sell it as I took the Jordan, Ewing, and Russell signatures off the market as I picked up a Pistol Pete Maravich as well, so it looks like I'm going to go down the slippery slope of the NBA's 50 greatest signature collection. I might change my mind before I get too far into it, but that's the plan right now. (translated loosely- that means I'll probably start it, but if an incredible signed rookie card comes along that I want to buy, I wouldn't be adverse to selling those to fund the rookie card purchase if need be)

<< <i>Im gonna bet on the UNDER....auctions don't have too good of a track record lately. Give us the link so we can watch it.... >>

<< <i>if you dont see the interest, pull the auction before it ends, no sense losing money in a soft market. >>
i agree, watch the "watch" list

I normally don't subscribe to that theory, in that you lose out on the "sniper" bids, but I see nothing wrong with pulling it down if the bids aren't there. I had a $150 HOF 1969 Topps card in a '9' grade that was only at the 99 cent opener with 13 hours to go......poof!! Yea, you may get some emails from bummed out bidders, but they were only looking to steal it anyway (win it for 5-10% of its' value, and then list it for 120% of its value in their store)....
I'm curious what the card might grade if I bought it
<< <i>I think you might be alright. Did you crack that thing out of a slab to get signed, or buy a raw card?
I'm curious what the card might grade if I bought it
Alex,
I bought it raw to get signed. When I bought it, it was advertised as Ex/Mt by the seller. In my opinion it is in Excellent condition

"Molon Labe"
Good luck with the sale.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
Good luck

<< <i>Mike why are you selling your Kareem? Did you pick up a blue or something? >>
Yep. I got one he personalized to me in blue sharpie.
I tried to bid, but I'm a stinky worm.

If any of y''all have a Canadian address and want to bid, then PM me your ebay id and I'll add you to the exception list. I turned off international shipping and i'ts evidently restricting Canadian buyers as well as I've had a couple people email me already and I added them to the exception list and now it lets them bid.
Thanks,
Mike

End result: Good move passing on the BIN Best Offer.
But then again, I could be wr-r-r-r-r-r-r-r . . .
<< <i>With three days left, I'd say you're doing just fine! $349.01 >>
Yep, so far so good. I had fully expected to only have a couple bidders and to be bummed cause the price was so low until peoples snipes fired off on Sunday night at the auction end. Now, it's fun, and even if it ends there, I'll be satisfied with the decision to auction it instead of taking the prior offer.

<< <i>Apropos of nothing >>
I have to admit that I'm just a country boy from rural Texas and I'm not sure what that phrase means. If someone can "dumb it down" for me, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
Mike
<< <i>Apropos of nothing, I would have given you $400 if you hadn't listed it on ebay. I hope you get more, but that's a nice card for several reasons and if it goes for a pittance that will serve as a reminder for me not to try to sell anything unless/until the market recovers. And/or a real auction house appears to replace ebay. >>
Did you put a $400 offer out there...or is this some type of monday quarterbacking?
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
Must be what a walnut talks like.
<< <i> that's a nice card for several reasons >>
Sure is.
<< <i> I would have given you $400 if you hadn't listed it on ebay. >>
You still can, simply bid 400.00
What difference does it make that he listed it?

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Mike
I going to guess, it ends at $384.15.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
WTG $416!!
I always got more than the offer.
Way to get 25% more Mike.
What you gonna do with the dough?
Replenish your bead collection?

Nah, my bead collection is pretty well set, but I've got 3 sweet vintage Bowman football signed rookies to pay for with the $$$$.
