Found Only One Half Dime for the Collection at Boston ANA

it's an 1832 LM-8.3, NGC AU-58. Nominally, it is just an R-3 die marriage; however, the "point-three" part of the name makes it scarcer. In the most recent half dime census, there were just five 1832 LM-8.3 half dimes reported. This coin blows away all five in the census and rivals the plate coin from the book (estimated to be AU58) for finest known.
I bought the coin on Tuesday. Told a fellow half dime collector about my good fortune. He inquired about my duplicate (cleaned, AU details). Brought it in on Wednesday, placed it in his hands before a meeting started, told him it the price in case he wanted it. He handed me a check after the meeting
The lighter-colored areas on this coin are quite lustrous. One of these days, the coin will benefit from a better photo
